Last weekend in the NFL was full of high-scoring shootings. And if you are a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers or New Orleans Saints, then you are probably delighted to know that your team has come out ahead of their respective fights. Between Drew Brees and "Big Ben" Roethlisberger, there were 749 passing yards and six touchdowns.

Although Drew Brees has been doing this since the beginning of the season, Roethlisberger had a strong week back as the Steelers claimed their first win of the season. It's almost as if the third week was the week when the former 30's QBs were ready to prove they were still elite. And if you thought these guys were done, think again. Ben Roethlisberger and Drew Brees were named NFL players of the week for their performances the other day / night.

Players of the week

Drew Brees had a little more time to consolidate his position as NFC offensive MVP while the Saints against the Falcons went through extra time. To add to his three touchdown passes, Brees also scored two points because of his strong presence in the red zone last Sunday. We know we're at the beginning of the year, but some other performances like this one could really help his campaign for an MVP race this season.

As for Big Ben, he fought very early in the limelight on Monday night. First, a three and one, then an interception had everyone thinking that it could actually be done. But again, Big Ben beat the NFC's best dog, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-27 in the first hour.
