CINCINNATI – Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton left Sunday's game against the Browns with a right thumb injury and did not return after being sidelined in the fourth quarter.
Dalton was injured in the fourth game of the third quarter after a strike from the center Billy Price has missed his head. Dalton went back to recover the ball and tried to get it back, but the Browns recovered. Dalton immediately went to the sideline and in the locker room with athletic trainers and did not return.
Dalton has not missed a match since the 2015 season, when he was attempting to tackle after throwing an interception against the Steelers and broke his thumb. Although Dalton avoided the operation, he has not returned this season, missing the last three games of the regular season and the AFC's wild card game. AJ McCarron, who is now with the Raiders, has replaced him.
Dalton was replaced on Sunday by quarterback Jeff Driskel. Dalton joins a long list of injured Bengals players, including wide receiver A.J. Green, who has missed several games due to an injury to the toe.
