Bill Daily, "I dream of Jeannie's" Star, Dead at 91

Rest in peace, Bill Daily.

The actor, perhaps better known as Major Healey I dream of Jeannie, died, according to several reports. He was 91 years old.

Daily's son, J. Patrick Daily, confirmed the news to Variety, revealing that his father died of natural causes Tuesday in Santa Fe, New Mexico. "He loved all the sunsets, he loved every meal," he said at the exit of his father. "He just decided to be happy about everything."

Daily played the role of Major Healey over the five seasons of I dream of Jeannieafter which he spent six seasons Bob Newhart's show as Newhart's neighbor, Howard Borden. His first role on television was on Nice to meet you, but he continued to have pieces on Mary Tyler Moore, Chips, The Love Boat, Aloha Paradise, from scratchand two other Newhart shows, Newhart and Bob, to name a few.

Daily had a recurring role as a psychiatrist Dr. Larry Dykstra on ALF from 1987, and went on to have his own sitcom, called Small and Frye, although the series lasted only three months in 1983. He also hosted several magic specials throughout his career, and made appearances on games like Match Game and Hollywood Places.

His son, J. Patrick, survives every day and works as the lead actor for the films.
