Bills unlikely to trade LeSan McCoy against Eagles

Even after an impressive victory over the Giants on a national stage, the Eagles still have questions. In particular, will they be able to run the ball?

Starter Jay Ajayi is absent for the season. Wendell Smallwood and Corey Clement averaged less than four yards per race on Thursday. General Manager Howie Roseman worked on the phone trying to find the half.

While one of these calls was sent to the Buffalo Bills and as the teams discussed a possible exchange for LeSean McCoy, there is still much to be done before an exchange becomes possible.

A key source thinks McCoy is staying in Buffalo not only for this year, but also for the 2019 season. There was no talk of compensation during the Bills-Eagles conversation this week, and the call was described as more moving than anything.

But the belief is that an exchange for McCoy would be expensive, perhaps as much as the Seahawks were asking Pro Bowler Earl Thomas before his injury. And the Eagles do not seem ready to pay a second-round pick for McCoy, even though they have two in the 2019 draft.

While Philly will continue his research and the two parties will probably talk again as the trade deadline approaches, the Bills are considering retaining McCoy for another reason.

While his legal situation has evolved publicly, he is extremely appreciated in the locker room and has matured as a leader of a young team. Simply, they want it on the team this year and next year, for rookie quarterback Josh Allen and everyone else. He should receive only $ 6.18 million for next year and he is one of their best players.

They just do not want to exchange it. They will listen, all teams listen, but the Bill wants to keep it. Over the next few weeks, it will be clear to what extent the Eagles really want to defend it or go in a different direction.
