Sources tell The Hollywood journalist that the filmmaker behind the emblem of Marvel Black Panther has quietly reached an agreement to write and direct the sequel.
Although the move was expected – Marvel wanted to keep the creative team as intact as possible and there was never any doubt as to what to do next – the timing was still unclear.

The film, starring Chadwick Boseman as a titular hero, raised $ 700 million in the domestic market and more than $ 1.3 billion worldwide. He is also considered a candidate for an Oscar nomination. In the weeks leading up to and after the release of the film in February, Marvel and Coogler's camp were harassed over when a consecutive contract would be signed. As a general rule, a filmmaker is more than willing to engage quickly for a follow-up and a studio is eager to find a key element of talent before or after a premiere. But Coogler's camp dissipated peer pressure and took its time to reach an agreement that took place under the radar some time ago.
According to some sources, at this point it is expected that Coogler will write the scenario next year with a view to start production by the end of 2019 or early 2020. Marvel and Disney's parent company, n '# 39; have however made no official announcement regarding Marvel's film selection beyond the release of the next Avengers peak in May 2019 and a Spider-Man: Homecoming continued in July – and the plans could change.
