Blood Moon 2018: When is the Moon of Blood in July? Is it visible in the United Kingdom and the United States? | Science | New

The 2018 blood moon will be the second chance that sky watchers have this year to see the rare lunar event.

January's super blue blood moon was the last time viewers were treated to rare vision, which combined a super moon, a blood moon and a blue moon.

While the unobstructed view was visible in the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, the UK missed the opportunity.

Australia, Asia, Africa, Europe and South America will have their turn this year while the July blood moon will blossom in the sky.

When is the blood moon visible in the United Kingdom and the United States?

The UK will be treated to the blood moon on July 27 for a total of 103 minutes as the moon progresses directly across the Earth's shadow.

However, fans of space in the United States will be disappointed because the moon of blood will not reach them.

Bruce McClure, Heavenly Expert, said: "This lunar eclipse is mainly visible from the Eastern Hemisphere of the world – Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and New Zealand."

The only place on the other side of the Atlantic to see the blood moon will be South America, which will have the latest insight into the event.

The blood moon is the result of a lunar eclipse, which is when the earth is between the sun and the moon.

As a result, the moon is in the shadow of the earth and the sun throws a strange red light into it.

This is because sunlight is filtered through the earth's atmosphere, which filters out certain colors in a phenomenon known as Rayleigh scattering.

The event this year will also see Mars at its closest to the earth in 15 years and mark the first time since 2003 that the red planet will be visible to the naked eye.

When is the next blood moon in the United States?

The next available eclipse for the United States will take place next year on January 21st.

Unlike the super blue blood moon earlier this year, the blood moon of next year will not be as spectacular.

The event will however be a super blood moon, with the moon being a fraction larger than normal as it passes closer to the ground.

The eclipse next year will be visible from coast to coast to coast in the United States, compared with the January eclipse on the west coast.
