Boston will be part of a group of US cities that will receive technical support and resources to reduce carbon emissions after Bloomberg Philanthropies names the city to win the US climate challenge, Mayor Martin J. Walsh's office said Sunday. .

Boston will receive a two-year support program aimed at expanding low-carbon mobility choices and improving the energy performance of the city's construction sector, to help it achieve its carbon reduction goals, the statement said.
"We are serious about building a more air-conditioned Boston. If we are to prepare for sea level rise and more intense storms, we must accelerate our actions to reduce carbon emissions.
