Bob Woodward Fear: Trump at the White House sold a large number of copies during the first seven days of sale. More than 1.1 million copies of the fWatergate's journalist's book was sold in a week, revealed publisher Simon & Schuster.
"There is only one word to describe the sales of Fear"And that word is huge," said Jonathan Karp, president and publisher of Simon & Schuster, in a press release. "What is particularly gratifying is the appreciation of readers and critics for the integrity and importance of Bob Woodward's reporting."
How big are these numbers? Not only is the figure of 1.1 million the largest turnover in the history of Simon & Schuster, but it also surpasses the figures of the first week in the other political books of 2018: The former director FBI James Comey Superior loyalty: truth, lies and Direction, the previous record, to 600,000 copies sold in its first week, while Michael Wolff Fire and fury, sold 200,000 copies.
This impressive figure is not a surprise after the first day of sales of the non-fiction tome: Simon & Schuster announced last week that Fear had sold 750,000 copies on the first day, but they have since revised this number to 900,000, citing late reporting for the sale of digital books and digital audio editions of Fear. These adjusted sales figures add up to total pre-orders and first-day sales in print, audio, digital and electronic media. The numbers prior to the order alone represented the "greatest number of titles in the history of the company Simon & Schuster," notes the publishing company in its press release.
On the day of liberation, September 11, the editor ordered a ninth print of Fear, bringing to more than 1.15 million printed copies. The number of sales in the first week includes the orders still to be filled from this print and, to date, Simon & Schuster has already ordered a tenth print, bringing the total number of copies of Fear to more than 1,200,000.
The draw for the publishing industry is obvious: the political presentations are huge this year. Michael Wolff Fire and fury, of Macmillian, remains the bestseller after Fear, with 2 million copies sold in four months.
The wave of political speeches that spurred the publishing industry in 2018 will not stop anytime soon. The memory of adult movie star Stormy Daniels is expected to be released next month via Pan Macmillan in the UK and via St Martin's Press in the United States.
