Body found near the home of a missing elementary teacher

A missing teacher's husband said his heart was "crushed" on Friday, as investigators found a body in a wooded area behind the couple's home in Maine, officials said.

"My heart was broken today," Jay Westra wrote in a Facebook post with a picture of himself and his wife, Kristin.

The office of the state medical examiner is trying to identify the body. A crime scene cassette was placed around a house Friday morning on Gray Road, but authorities declined to indicate the eventual role of the house in the investigation.
