The $ 9.2 billion deal covers 351 T-X jet aircraft, 46 simulators and ground equipment, with an option to purchase up to 475 aircraft and 120 simulators. Boeing and Triumph officials have already said that foreign armed forces could also order hundreds of other training aircraft.
Triumph officials had previously estimated that its share of the contract would create 950 direct and indirect jobs, with a regional economic impact of $ 59 million. But these figures were based on an older estimate that set the value of the contract at $ 16 billion.
Discounted figures based on the final value of the contract were not immediately available on Thursday.
The Pennsylvania-based Triumph Group employs approximately 1,100 workers, including manufacturers, engineers, supply chain workers and others at its Red Oak plant.
The facility also performed work on various other Boeing aircraft, including the V-22 Osprey.
Boeing is associated with the Swedish company Saab to win the T-X auction, ahead of several other major military contractors, including Lockheed Martin, whose headquarters of the aviation division is located in Fort Worth.
