The Wastewater and Sewage Board issued a boil water advisory for the entire east bank of the Orleans Parish.

The notice was published Saturday morning around 7:30.

According to the authorities, a drop in water pressure caused the warning.

Residents under the notice must not drink, make ice or brush their teeth with tap water until the notice has been lifted, said the S & WB. People with compromised immune systems should not wash their hands, shower or wash. Everyone should be careful not to swallow water while showering, according to the S & WB.

The Louisiana Department of Health recommends anyone with a recent surgical wound or chronic illness to consider using bottled water for cleaning until the lifting of the command.

The boiling order of the water will remain in effect until further notice. Clients in the West Bank are not affected.

Anyone with questions can contact S & WB at (504) 529-2837.
