A union representing workers on strike at the Westin Book Cadillac Detroit says it has ratified an agreement between the workers and the hotel.

According to a statement from Local 24's Unite Here, workers signed a contract with the hotel, run by Bethesda-based Marriott International Inc., Bethesda. but did not provide any details.

The union said it would not share more information about this deal as long as the other six cities in which striking Marriott hotel employees would not have made deals have concluded agreements.

Messages left with a spokesman for the hotel and another for his parent company were not immediately returned.

Almost all 160 domestic servants, waiters, door attendants and cooks represented by the Detroit – based hospitality union were released on October 7. The union contracts expired on June 30th.

The hotel remained open during the strike, but it cost Book-Cadillac a conference planned by CityLab of Atlantic Media, Aspen Institute and Bloomberg Philanthropies that took place this week. This conference was transferred to the Marriott Renaissance Center. Michigan's business leaders have moved their summit leaders to Michigan, which took place Thursday at the Cobo Center.

Local 24 represents approximately 7,000 hotel, restaurant and airport services workers in Michigan and Ohio. At the beginning of the strike, the union said the Detroit workers had about 5,000 people, including Unite Here, who were striking at Marriott across the country. Other sites are San Francisco, Boston, San Jose, San Diego, Honolulu and Maui, according to a union spokeswoman.
