The Boston Celtics are signing an agreement with Brad Wanamaker, a 28-year-old leader, reports ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
EuroLeague goalkeeper Brad Wanamaker is in the process of finalizing an agreement to join the Boston Celtics next season, ESPN sources told the league.

Wanamaker spent last season playing for Fenerbahce Istanbul, which he helped at the Euroleague Final Four, eventually falling in the title game at Real Madrid. Negotiations to bring Wanamaker, who played at the University of Pittsburgh from 2007 to 2011, have been going on for more than a week, reported international basketball reporter David Pick.
Wanamaker has never played in the NBA, although he was a member of Austin Toros, affiliated with the D-League Spurs of San Antonio, during the 2011-12 season. He was team-mate with Celtics striker Daniel Theis while he was playing in Germany during the 2014-15 season.
The free NBA agency does not start until July 1, but the Celtics are allowed to negotiate with Wanamaker as he was not in the league last season. The details of the future Wanamaker contract have not yet been reported.
The Celtics exceed the salary cap for next season and have a realistic chance of paying the luxury tax. Boston has eight guaranteed players for next season (Gordon Hayward, Al Horford, Kyrie Irving, Jayson Tatum, Marcus Morris, Jaylen Brown, Terry Rozier and Guerschon Yabusele). Three others (Semi Ojeleye, Abdel Nader and Theis) are not guaranteed. Their list of free agents includes playmaker Shane Larkin, who is not restricted, and his co-guard Marcus Smart, who is restricted.
Wanamaker averaged 11.3 points and 3.8 assists over 26.1 minutes per game last year while playing at Euroleague with Fenerbahce. He shot 41 percent from the field and 33 percent from the 3-point range.
