Boulder thrown out the window of McCarthy's office

McCarthy posted several photos of the suspects on Instagram, asking his supporters if they knew the identity of the individuals.

"Does anyone know these two guys? They threw a rock out the window of our office and took away office equipment," wrote McCarthy.

He did not provide any additional information.

Bakersfield police said in a press release obtained by The Hill on Tuesday that police responded Sunday morning to the congressman's office after a burglary report.

Two people broke a window with a big rock, then went inside and took electronic devices, the police said. None of the items seized contained government or sensitive information, nor were they connected to federal networks, police said.

Police have identified two suspects in the case. Both have been described as white men between 20 and 30 years old.

One of them was wearing a black baseball cap with the letters "CALI" on the front and a pink backpack, police said. The other has been described as wearing a light-colored long-sleeved t-shirt and dark pants.

McCarthy and other congressional officials usually campaign in their home districts two weeks before the mid-term elections. McCarthy, who represents California's 23rd congressional district in California, is likely to run for the presidency if the Republicans retain a majority in the House.

Democrats hold a 7.7 percentage point lead over the congressional poll before midterm, according to an average of these polls conducted by RealClearPolitics.
