A boy whose solitary birthday became viral after none of his classmates showed up will have no party next year, his mother said.
Sil Mazzini told The New York Post that she would take Teddy, a six-year-old boy, on a trip, because another party would be "so planned".
The young man was flooded with messages of support after his mother posted a picture of him on Facebook in an Arizona pizzeria, where he was sitting next to an empty table.
He was surrounded by unused paper plates with a sad face, as well as napkins with the words "party!"
Ms Mazzini said she regretted not having shared this picture after attracting so much attention.
But she said she did it because no one had come and she still had to pay the $ 130 bill.
"I was a little shocked and in the end, I had to pay for it – I was upset," she told the New York Post.
"That's why I wrote a message, but I was not expecting anything of it – that it's going to be so viral."
Ms. Mazzini said that about 20 guests were expected to arrive and about 15 responses were received.
But when the number of participants turned out to be zero, she said she was "incredulous".
"Honestly, I would like to go back without sending this message," she said.
"We do not want any attention, we have not done this to attract attention or to offer gifts or anything, I've done it in the ### ### ### ######################################################################## But I was not smart, I was angry, that's all. "
When asked if Teddy would be organizing a birthday party next year, Ms. Mazzini replied, "No more now, I do not think so, because it's so much planning for me." I will take her on a trip. "
Teddy's photo drew the attention of the Phoenix Suns basketball team, who offered free tickets to the birthday boy to celebrate with them.
The music producer DJ Khaled also wished Teddy a happy birthday and told him that he wanted to send him a gift.
Teddy has since attended a basketball game between the Phoenix Suns and the Los Angeles Lakers, where he met some of the players.
"Did we mention Teddy's first game in the NBA!?!", Tweeted the Phoenix Suns.
