Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will be face-to-face in a custody trial, which will begin early next month … TMZ has learned.

Angelina and Brad have filed legal documents asking a judge of the Superior Court of the South Atlantic to give them until next June the bitter divorce … with the help of a private judge.

The custody trial is now scheduled to begin on December 4 and both parents could not be further apart. Angelina wants the exclusive physical custody of her 6 children and Brad wants a 50/50 split custody.

We are told that the trial in custody should last between 2 and 3 weeks, after which the judge must settle everything.

In addition to the guard, the private judge must deal with the property's bylaw. There is not a marriage contract … which is huge, considering the bad blood between the two.

We know that Brad is complaining bitterly that he thinks that Angelina is trying to deny it the right to parent their children.
