"And I think that having gained expectations is a positive thing."
The Toronto Raptors are believed to be the biggest threat to Boston, especially after the addition of Kawhi Leonard as part of a major exchange with the San Antonio Spurs.
Stevens made sure to point out that the Raptors finished four games before the Cs last year and he does not see them fall after adding a superstar.
"Kawhi's ability to impact an attacking game in defense, I'm also thinking of adding Danny Green – it's a really versatile team," said Stevens.
"Toronto was the best team in the East and they added one of the best players in the NBA. So I'm sure they're excited about their team. "
LeBron James' move to the west has opened the door for a new team to take over from the east and this could be the most exciting battle of next season.
