Braun Strowman, from WWE, reportedly went to surgery

On Raw, the WWE appeared to be writing to Braun Strowman from television after a steel stair assault by Baron Corbin. While the WWE announced that the incident had broken Strowman's elbow, the real story is that he actually needs a surgical procedure.

According to the Wrestling Observer radio, Strowman is dealing with bone spurs in the elbow and will need a procedure to remedy the situation. The operation should be minimal and Strowman should be back by the Royal Rumble.

The report seemed to not rule out Strowman coming back for his TLC match with Baron Corbin, though. In the opening segment of Raw, Stephanie McMahon booked Strowman against Corbin for the December 16 broadcast. Yes Strowman wins, he will have a chance at Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble, but if Corbin wins he will be the permanent general manager of Raw.

WWE would probably have made that match if Strowman was sure he could come back here, but we'll have to wait.

According to some rumors, Strowman would suffer from several persistent injuries, but he was expected to resist the discomfort. Before the bone spurs, Strowman apparently had a bad pair of knees. But given his high trajectory, Strowman was doing his best to stay in the ring.

Whatever it is, it seems that we will not see Strowman until a few weeks later. His injuries, such as Becky Lynch, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and, of course, Roman Reigns are still out of action.

Even if Strowman is forced to miss TLC, he is probably destined to meet Lesnar at the Rumble in January. WWE probably has contingency plans, but it looks like the World Championship scene will remain a two-man show for the next few months. It's hard to predict where the WWE will lead us, especially since they may not even know their own final destination.

The news of Roman Reigns' leukemia has shifted the whole business. WWE waited about two years to finally win the title of world champion. Only a few weeks after taking office, he had to give up his belt. The original plans probably provided for Reigns to hold the big red belt up to – and probably up to – WrestleMania 35. But without Rings, Lesnar was installed as an emergency champion. Even if Strowman would do well in the role, there is a chance for Lesnar to retain the title until Mania.
