Braves boast five finalists of the gold glove

The Braves' first baseman, Freddie Freeman, center player, Ender Inciarte, right-winger Nick Markakis, Julio Teheran's player and football player, Adam Duvall, are the finalists in the glove. gold in the 2018 National League, Rawlings Sports announced Thursday.

The Golden Glove is awarded to the individual considered to have the best overall defensive performance of his league at his post.

Braves tied the Red Sox for most finalists in major tournaments with five. Freeman led the first low NL players to save saved defensive points (12).

Inciarte is aiming for his third consecutive Golden Glove. Last year, he became the first consecutive winner of the franchise since the short stop Andrelton Simmons in 2013-14. Andruw Jones, who had 10 straight wins between 1998 and 2007, was the last Braves player to qualify so much.

Freeman joins Joey Votto of Cincinnati and Anthony Rizzo of Chicago in the top three. Freeman has often created fear of his teammates for his stretches and early shots.

Rizzo won a gold glove in 2016, while Votto won the honor in 2011. The Braves did not have a first baseman.

It would also be Tehran's first golden glove. He is joined by Clayton Richard of San Diego and Zack Greinke of Arizona, who has won the last four awards.

The Braves have not seen their pitcher win a gold glove since Mike Hampton in 2003. Greg Maddux, a Hall of Fame member, has won this honor 18 times, including 10 with the Braves.

Markakis has just completed his first season of stars. He had already won two gloves in 2011 and 2014. He was also a finalist with the Braves in 2016.

He is joined by Jason Heyward and Jon Jay. Heyward, a former Brave, has claimed the last four. He won the gold gloves in 2012 and 2014 with the Braves.

The inclusion of Duvall is more due to his passage with the Reds. The Braves acquired it before the trade deadline and he appeared on the field in just 14 games for the Braves. Rented for his defense, it would be Duvall's first gold glove.

Neither Dansby Swanson nor second baseman Ozzie Albies were selected. This season, manager Brian Snitker has repeatedly said that Albies was one of the best, if not the best, second baseman in the NL.

Javy Baez, DJ LeMahieu and Kolten Wong were finalists. He was considered one of the strongest groups in baseball.

Swanson could be considered a surprise after having the best defensive season of the club. His late-game shot in Arizona may well be the best of the team of the year.

But Swanson will have to wait another year in pursuit of Gold Glove. Brandon Crawford, Nick Ahmed and Freddy Galvis are the short stopover finalists.
