CONCORD, N.C. – The zMAX Dragway in Concord was filled with pink as hundreds of walkers filled the drag race Saturday morning to raise awareness about breast cancer.

Survivors and supporters came out to participate in the "Breastfeeding Breast Cancer Walk" organized by Allison Latos, Channel 9 presenter.

The money collected will contribute, among other things, to the free accommodation of patients and their movements.

"If you can not get treatment, the results will not be great," said Megan Nelson, executive director of the American Cancer Society. "We want to eliminate this barrier."

"I'm excited at this time of year to come here to support her because I know she supports me," said Emily Ashley, a breast cancer survivor.

The organizers hoped to raise $ 450,000 during the event.

The money raised stays in Charlotte to fund the research and help pay for the treatments.
