The history of baseball was made Monday night at Miller Park.

Brewer outfielder Christian Yelich won his second cycle of the 2018 season Monday night, becoming the fifth player in history with several cycles in one season. Yelich had his first round as part of a six-shot attack on August 30. His two cycles have been against the Reds, which is a coincidence.

Here are the five players with multiple cycles in one season:

  • Christian Yelich, 2018 Brewers
  • Aaron Hill, 2012 Diamondbacks
  • Babe Herman, 1931 Brooklyn Robins
  • Tip O Neill, 1887 St. Louis Browns
  • John Reilly, 1883 Cincinnati Red Stockings

Yelich is only the third player of the modern era (since 1900) with two cycles in one season. Monday night, against the Reds (GameTracker), Yelich scored a first single of the round, a third double of the round, a fifth inning at home and a sixth hat-trick. Here is the triple to complete the cycle:

Arrived Monday, Yelich is ranked second in the Netherlands batting average (0.313), ninth in percentage of the base (0.381), third in percentage of slowdown (0.556), second in OPS (0.937), fourth in OPS + (146), fifth in total number of bases (295) and fifth in WAR (5.3). He is a legitimate MVP candidate and he was all the brewers could have wanted when they acquired it from the Marlins' last season.
