TEHRAN, Iran – The top British diplomat has discussed the case of an Anglo-Iranian woman detained in Iran for more than two years during her visit to the Islamic Republic.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry, quoted by the semi-official ISNA news agency, said on Tuesday that Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt had referred to the case of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe with Iranian officials, no more precision.
Hunt met on Monday with the Iranian Foreign Minister and a senior security official.
Zaghari-Ratcliffe, who worked for the Thomson Reuters charity branch, was arrested in April 2016 for plotting against the government. His family denies the allegations.
Hunt retweeted photos of him, meeting his family and playing with his girl, saying, "No child should be forced to stay so long without his mother."
