Browns owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam prevented the Columbus team from moving to Austin, Texas. The Major League Soccer team is in the process of concluding an agreement to transfer Anthony Precourt's property to investor Dr. Pete Edwards in the Columbus and Columbus area.
"Although many details remain to be resolved, our alliance is working diligently and in collaboration with Major League Soccer to keep the crew in its community," partners Haslams, Edwards and Columbus announced in a joint statement. "We are very pleased with the unobtrusive but deliberate progress that has been made so far and that will keep the community informed of the evolution of the process."
Precourt announced plans to move the team to Austin on October 17 from last year. A community campaign entitled "Save the Crew" has launched a campaign to keep them.
The Haslam, who bought the Browns in 2012, came to the rescue.
