Jimmy Butler scored 33 points on 10 out of 12 shots in his first home game of the season to help the Minnesota Timberwolves win an 131-123 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night in Minneapolis.
Butler was warmly booed during the pre-game introductions, resulting from his trade request and the wish not to sign again with the Timberwolves. He hit his 12 free throws – later receiving the "M-V" -P vocals while he was on the line – and also contributed to seven rebounds and four interceptions in 36 minutes.

Kawhi Leonard scored 31 points – 22 in the second period – and added 10 rebounds to help Toronto defeat Boston.
Serge Ibaka added 21 points to the Raptors, while Kyle Lowry was 15, Danny Green 14 and Fred VanVleet 11.
Kyrie Irving led the Celtics with 21 points and Jayson Tatum added 16 points with nine rebounds. Al Horford had 14 points and 10 rebounds for Boston, while Gordon Hayward also scored 14 points and Jaylen Brown had 13 points.
Warriors 124, Jazz 123
Jonas Jerebko scored in a basket missed by Kevin Durant, he only had 0.3 seconds left to help the visiting Golden State escape with a victory over Utah.
Jerebko's basket was offset by a 16-point deficit in the third quarter for the Warriors. Durant had 38 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Stephen Curry added 31 points and eight assists.
Joe Ingles scored 27 points, Donovan Mitchell added 19 and Jae Crowder scored 17 on the bench for Jazz. Utah broke a 10-point franchise record in the second quarter.
Pelicans 149, Kings 129
Nikola Mirotic scored 36 points, his career high, while New Orleans set a franchise record by scoring his first home game against Sacramento.
Mirotic led eight double-digit markers for the Pelicans, who opened the season with a 131-112 win over Houston on Wednesday. They started 2-0 for the first time since 2011-12.
Anthony Davis had 25 points, 10 rebounds and six assists; Jrue Holiday had 15 points, 10 assists and three interceptions; Elfrid Payton scored 11 points; and E & # 39; Twaun Moore 10 while the five starters from New Orleans had at least 10 points. In the fourth quarter, Caris LeVert scored 15 of 28 points, the highest number of his career, and a second to tie the score to allow Brooklyn to win his first home game and beat New York.
LeVert opened a 105-105 stalemate by showing some speed and a solid finish to the rim after obtaining the Joe Harris inner pass. He started his run above the 3-point line at the top of the key and skirted his former University of Michigan teammate Tim Hardaway Jr.
After New York called timeout, the game ended when Hardaway's 3-point-long attempt was made. Hardaway and Enes Kanter led all scorers with 29 points.
Lawn mowers 108, thunder 92
Tobias Harris scored 26 points and 10 rebounds. Danilo Gallinari also scored 26, while Los Angeles started fast, but he still needed a rally in the second half to beat Oklahoma City.
The Clippers returned after a nine-point deficit in the second half for the win, after a 16-0 lead to open the match. Lou Williams scored 17 points on the Clippers' bench while Marcin Gortat had 12 rebounds.
Paul George scored 20 points and Steven Adams added 17 points with 18 rebounds to lead the Thunder, who was deprived of Russell Westbrook for a second consecutive game. Westbrook, who has undergone a knee surgery, could eventually be available for the home opener against Sacramento.
Hornets 120, Magic 88
Kemba Walker scored 26 points, all in the first three quarters, and Charlotte continued her mastery of Orlando's host with a rout.
The victory was the first of the Hornets of the season and the first for new coach James Borrego. That 's done at the expense of Magic coach Steve Clifford, who has coached the Hornets over the past five seasons before being fired last spring.
Charlotte has now beaten Orlando 12 straight since 2015, a franchise record for the Hornets against all opponents.

The Grizzlies broke the previous franchise record of 117 for most points scored in a home opener. They broke the franchise mark to earn points in the first half, scoring 77 points, three points higher than the previous mark.
Temple scored 10-11 on the field and 5 for 6 on 3 points and added four rebounds. Rookie Jaren Jackson Jr. added 24 points, 8-in-12, with seven rebounds in his home debut. The Hawks had 28 points on 10 shots out of 15 from Taurean Prince and 20 points and nine assists by rookie Trae Young.
