Butler join Simmons for Sixers' NBA tilt

Jimmy Butler says he has had a chat with Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid and is satisfied with the NBA's new 'Big Three' is focused on one goal for the Philadelphia 76ers.

They are committed to doing the hard work to win the NBA championship.

Butler, a four-time All-Star and Elite scoring and defensive shooting guard / small forward, held his introductory press conference with the 76ers on Tuesday.

"MVPs are great." Defensive Player of the Year is great.

"Goal, getting a trophy and that ring knowing that you are the best in the world, that is special."

The Sixers sit in third place behind the Toronto Raptors and Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference with nine wins and six losses.

They were unable to beat an injury-struck Boston Celtics Brett Brown is confident Butler is the superstar the team needed.

"But it's crazy because we know basketball," Butler said.

"Everybody is excited."

Butler's departure from the Minnesota Timberwolves cam after the weeks of reported locker room turmoil Chicago Bulls star dissatisfied with the desire of that team's young stars – Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins – to win.

But he shrugged the reports off claiming it "just did not work out" and his former Timberwolves teammates were "incredible players and even better human beings".

Butler and 76ers general manager Elton Brand dismissed the likelihood of Butler bringing drama to Philadelphia, with a five-year contract $ 190 million ($ A263m).

"I already got enough money for my life," Butler said.

"It's not about the money.

"I have to love where I'm at a great chance to win a championship."

They are expected to make their debut with the 76ers when they play the Magic in Orlando on Wednesday (Thursday AEDT) before Philadelphia host Joe Ingles and the Jazz Utah on Friday (Saturday AEDT).

The Philadelphia media quickly dubbed Butler, Australian-born NBA Rookie of the Simmons Year and 213cm tall All-Star center Embiid 'The Big Three'.

Butler likes the moniker but says it still has to be earned.

"I like the sound of it," he said.

"Now we have to go out and make some things happen.

"Talk is just that, talk."
