"I call Dallas officials," said Allison Jean, who lives on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia, where she was a civil servant. "Please come clean, give me justice for my son."

The authorities did not say whether Guyger's apartment or car had been searched.

The court records released Friday show however that an investigator from the prosecutor's office has obtained a search warrant to seize Guyger's door, the electronic lock and the data inside the electronic lock.

The data could potentially indicate that Guyger's door was locked and unlocked, indicating whether she was returning home before going to Jean's apartment.

The underlying affidavit describing the probable cause of the warrant was sealed by District Judge Brandon Birmingham.

No warrant for her car or inside her apartment was released, but such a warrant would not be necessary if she consented to a search.

Merritt, a lawyer for the Jean family, said the Dallas police department tainted the investigation before handing it over to the Texas Rangers. But, he said, he thinks the Dallas County District Attorney, Faith Johnson, could lay a charge of murdering Guyger.

"I am convinced that this District Attorney Office takes this matter seriously," he said. "They assured us that, despite the charges of manslaughter, which we believe to be an inappropriate charge, they keep all options open."

But, he said, "I lost confidence in the Dallas Police Department and their investigators, I lost confidence in the Texas Rangers."

Another family lawyer, Darryl Washington, said "there is no doubt that this officer should have been fired."

Hall has placed Guyger, who has been working for the department for almost five years, on paid administrative leave.
