Make no mistake – the expectations for the return of the Eagles Carson Wentz quarter are high.
"With all the offense, this whole organization has high expectations," said Wentz. "We expect to leave and start quickly, play fast, click, I really believe it's a realistic expectation."
The question is how much the team can reasonably expect to help an offense that is currently one of the worst in the NFL.
The Eagles are in the bottom half of the NFL at points and yards per game. They are also in the lower half of the NFL, both in yards and in the yards. As bad as the statistics are, the offense was worse.
Part of the reasons for these offensive struggles were injuries. The team played (for the most part) without his starting quarter, two of his best receivers in Alshon Jeffery and Mike Wallace, two of their best pitchers in Jay Ajayi and Darren Sproles and a few key saves. Left striker Jason Peters is also in the lineup.
It may not change much this week, as Jeffery, Wallace, Sproles and Ajayi are all out. Head Coach Doug Pederson insisted this week that injuries will not affect the way he calls the game.
"It does not affect gaming calls, it only affects the staff in the game because, as you said, we're down, look, we do not apologize, it's part of the National League. This will happen every week, and we have to prepare the next guy, "said Pederson. "We are lucky enough to have three tight ends, we have integrated them in. We have receivers that we can move around the field and we are just trying to create clashes, but we can keep the defenses out of balance, we can do it and just prepare our guys. "
It is clear that to meet the high expectations of the Eagles, Wentz will be in the form of MVP almost from the kickoff Sunday in his first match in almost a year. The good news for the team is that Wentz has not shown a lot of signs of rust since he took over the first team in practice this week.

Pederson also noted that Wentz's enthusiasm now that it starts is contagious throughout the building.

Faced with a Colts quality defense without most of his offending offensive weapons, it will be interesting to see how much Wentz can change things immediately after the Eagles attack.
