Round 5

LAS VEGAS – Nearly a year before the start of their first match, Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin will renew what became a bitter rival Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena – with the World Boxing Association and the Golovkin World Boxing Council . middleweight championship belts on the line.

"I am disturbed by all the nonsense they said," said Alvarez, 28. "I do not know who to laugh at or get excited at this point. But their statements are all excuses for the loss they will suffer. "

Golovkin has generally been affable in promoting past fights. But this time, the 36-year-old Kazakh fighter showed an intensity that many observers had never seen before.
"I want to punish him," Golovkin said. "I want to fight and punish him for all the bad things he and his team have done."
The first bout ended in a controversial draw, with a judge who beat Alvarez's 118-110 winner in a bout almost universally considered to be much closer. This time, both seek clarity.
Tactically, the Golovkin numbers are trying to start faster after giving the first two rounds of the 2017 meeting. Alvarez, meanwhile, said he would seek to engage more in this fight. Golovkin criticized Alvarez for his defensive fight the first time and to avoid trade in the pocket.
