Brie Larson makes his official debut in the film world of Marvel.
Welcome to Marvel's film universe, Brie Larson. After months of anticipation, Marvel revealed the first official look at Brie Larson as Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel. The revelation arrives several months before Disney launches "Captain Marvel" in theaters in March.
"Captain Marvel" takes place in the 1990s and follows Carol Danvers who becomes one of the most powerful heroes of the galaxy after the Earth finds itself at the center of an intergalactic conflict between two extraterrestrial worlds. Samuel L. Jackson resumes his role as Nick Fury, while Jude Law becomes Mar-Vell and Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva. Lee Pace plays Ronan the accuser, who has not been seen at the MCU since "Guardians of the Galaxy".
"She can not help but be herself," says Larson Weekly entertainment about the character. "She can be aggressive and can have a temperament and she can be a bit overwhelming and on your face. She is also quick to jump to things, which makes her unbelievable in battle because she is the first to go out and does not always wait for orders. But the [not] waiting for orders is for some a character defect.
This year's record-breaking "Avengers: Infinity War" includes a mid-generic scene in which Nick Fury contacted Captain Marvel as he turned into dust. Although "Captain Marvel" takes place years before the slap Thanos, it is clear that the superhero Larson is being considered as an addition to the MCU that will change franchise. Producer Kevin Fiege himself has stated great things for Larson and compares his first film to "Terminator 2: Judgment Day".
Captain Marvel, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, opens nationwide on March 8, 2019. Take a look at the first look below.
