My hero academy is one of the biggest cartoons of the moment, so it's no surprise that we have a fighting game based on the show about superheroes and villains. But do The justice of my hero bring together the best of the anime and the kind of fighting game? Not really, but the game is trying.
On the surface, the gameplay is shallow. There is some complexity in the fighting but The justice of my hero suffers from a crisis of identity. It captures the spirit of the anime, but does not run it in a way that fully satisfies fans of the series or fans of fighting games.
GAME PLAY
Fight in The justice of my hero is a mixed bag. Each character has three variants of his attack (fast, counter and unstoppable) that behaves like a situation of rock, paper scissors in combat. Rapid attacks seem to be the way to go, as they can stop your opponent's attacks when the timing is right, but you will not feel like unique skills in your fights, especially when you're in combo mode automatic.
Automatic combos allow players to repeatedly press the same button to perform combos. Although the manual option provides a more skillful depth to combat, there is really no incentive to play with the manual mode.
The rest of the fight places two characters in a 3D arena where you can run, jump and escape on the whole scene. The environments themselves do not take into account battles, but there is an interesting feature that allows players to send their opponents into a building where they will remain stuck. This allows you to climb the building and attack your opponent without repercussion. It's not easy to do, but when that's done, it adds a cool factor to the battle.
Where the gameplay in Justice really shines in the way he uses the quirks of each character. Each member of the list has two bizarre attacks perfectly represented in The justice of my hero. The bizarre attacks of each character smell and play differently. It's here that Justice becomes very amusing.
For example, as Todoroki, you summon walls of ice or fire on your opponent. Or if you are Eraser Head, you can turn off your opponent's quirks and attack with a burst of punches and feet.
It's a bit harder to fight characters with quirks like Uraraka, Tsuyu or Yaoyorozu, but each of their powers is used in a unique and effective way. Yaoyorozu can manifest certain elements of his body, but players can control what emerges depending on how long they hold the weird button. It's just an example of the small nuances that make each character's essay something to be hoped for.
Characters like All Might who should be OP, or larger than life, feel exactly that. It's hard to describe, but when you face All Might or other professional heroes, they feel more difficult to eliminate.
GAME MODES
There are a few things that players can do in The justice of my hero. Story mode allows you to dive and learn the ropes. Although this is a great place to do it (outside the training mode, of course), its presentation is rather superficial.
The story begins around the middle of Season 2 of the anime and stops somewhere in the middle of Season 3, entirely voiced by the original Japanese cast. However, it's weird that Justice throws players in the middle of a season without any knowledge about these characters. Of course, this game is likely to appeal to fans of the anime, but if they seek to capture the audience of casual fighting games, it does not help.
In addition, each chapter consists of screenshots of animated representations, or 3D representations of certain scenes mixed between fights. There is nothing new to offer outside certain hypothetical moments that are not developed.
Missions mode is where the players have fun most. In this mode, players select three characters and attempt to pass through one of six cards, each with more battles than the previous one. The name of the game is to browse the map without losing your entire team. Your health is lost from one battle to another; you will have to change your character to preserve your health. Some items can recover health or improve stats, but your overall score loses points if you use them.
An Arcade mode will be available on launch day, which is your standard scale, and an online mode was not available during the review period.
There is also a customization mode that allows players to earn items and various equipment from the cast of characters through Story mode or by buying them with a currency in play. You can use these items to customize your favorite fighters, but nothing more.
VERDICT
The justice of my hero has the heart of a good anime fighting game but just misses the mark in its execution. Although the fights are basic, each character feels unique with his use of quirks that really made me want to try each one of them.
The story mode is nothing more than an anime narrative, while the mission mode allows players to spend most of their time. If you're a fan of cartoons, you'll enjoy the nuances of fighting, but if you're looking for a more substantial fighting game experience, there are other options.
