Carrie Underwood brought a note to the 2018 American Music Awards.
Amid colorful, high-energy performances from the likes of Dua Lipa and Ciara, the country superstar performed the ballad "Spinning Bottles," an emotional examination of alcoholism and addiction from her new album, Cry Pretty: "Nobody gets lucky when that bottle spins / again and again, again and again," she sang from a small rotating platform surrounded by candles.
Earlier in the evening, Underwood won the award for Favorite Female Artist – Country, her thirteenth AMA award.
Cry Pretty Underwood's marks first time co-producing one of her albums. Earlier this year, her collaborator David Garcia told Billboard that, more than a dozen years ago, the singer has the drive of a new artist.
