During an interview on the episode of this weekend's CBS Sunday morning, the singer of "Cry Pretty" revealed that she had experienced the first miscarriage last year.
"I thought 2017 was the year I was working on new music and I have a baby," said Underwood, whose son Isaiah Michael was born in 2015. "We got pregnant early. 2017, and did not work. "
During this difficult time, Underwood said that she had bent over her faith.
"At first, it was like we knew it was just your schedule. And that's fine. We will bounce back and understand our path, "she said.
This prospect became more and more difficult to maintain after Underwood suffered a second miscarriage in 2017 and a third in 2018 – although she still felt angry because the couple had already been "so happy".
"My son, Isaiah, is the sweetest thing. And he is the best thing in the world. And I say to myself, "If we can never have other children, that's good, because it's amazing." And I have this incredible life. Like, really, what can I complain about? I can not, she continued. "I have an amazing husband, amazing friends, amazing work, an amazing kid. Can I be angry? No."

She went on to reveal that one of her most moving moments was that she curled up with her son and thought, "Why the hell am I still getting pregnant if I can not have a child? Like what is it? Close the door. Like doing something. Close the door or let me have a child.
"And for the first time, I felt like I had told God how I felt," she added. "It was like a Saturday – and on Monday, I went to the doctor to confirm, another miscarriage. And they told me everything was fine!
She said, "He heard me."
