Cary Joji Fukunaga has been announced as the director of the 25th Bond movie.
He replaces Danny Boyle, who left the project as a result of "creative differences" with the producers of the franchise. The film was also postponed to February 14, 2020, originally scheduled for release in October 2019.
A tweet published on the official account of James Bond says: "Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli and Daniel Craig announced today that # Bond25 would start shooting at Pinewood Studios on March 4, 2019 under the direction of director Cary Joji Fukunaga. dated February 14, 2020. "
Fukunaga is best known for directing and directing the first season of HBO. True detectivein addition to having directed critically acclaimed films, Jane Eyre (2011) and Beasts of No Nation (2015).
His latest release is the mini-series Maniac, a dark comedy about the pharmaceutical industry, starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill, who debuted on Netflix on September 21st.
It was reported that Boyle's disagreement was primarily with Daniel Craig – the movie's star, as well as an executive producer – about the casting of Cold War actor Tomasz Kot as the movie's main villain.
