The Catholic Archdiocese of Washington Monday published the names of 31 priests credibly accused of sexual abuse of minors since 1948, highlighting its commitment to contribute to the healing process of survivors.

To the knowledge of the Archdiocese, there has been no credible allegation of minor abuse committed by a priest for nearly 20 years. The webpage lists 28 priests from the archdiocese and three priests who worked temporarily in his parishes or schools.

An archdiocesan priest in the active ministry has never been credibly accused of minor abuses, according to the press release. Monday's list is part of a magazine commissioned in 2017 by Cardinal Donald Wuerl. For some priests, the list includes the years in which they were arrested and convicted, or abuses were reported against them.

The archdiocese released the list amid waves of abuse scandals committed by clerical office workers and allegations. Pope Francis has been called to resign, including by a former Vatican diplomat, following his response to child abuse cases.
