CBS All Access Announces "Star Trek: Short Treks"

Fans eagerly awaiting the arrival of "Star Trek: Discovery" Season 2 will have the chance to whet their appetite. On Thursday, CBS All Access announced the release of "Star Trek: Short Treks" in October, a series of four news in the "Star Trek" universe.

The first mini episode airs on October 4 on CBS All Access. Discovery fans will recognize familiar faces like Tilly (Mary Wiseman), Saru (Doug Jones) and Harry Mudd (Rainn Wilson). Spectators will also be introduced to the new character "Discovery" Craft, played by Aldis Hodge.

Each short episode will last 10 to 15 minutes. In a statement, CBS All Access said: "Every short … will be an opportunity for fans to dive deeper into themes and key characters that fit into" Star Trek: Discovery "and the universe "Star Trek" in full expansion. "

Each mini-episode will focus on a key character. Rainn Wilson directs the short film on his own character.

"Runaway" – Thursday October 4th

On board the United States Discovery, Ensign Tilly (Mary Wiseman) meets an unexpected visitor who needs help. However, this unlikely pair may have more in common than what we see. Written by Jenny Lumet and Alex Kurtzman. Directed by Maja Vrvilo.

"Calypso" – Thursday, November 8

After waking up in an unknown infirmary, Craft (Aldis Hodge) finds himself aboard an abandoned ship, and his only companion and hope of survival is A.I. computer interface. Teleplay by Michael Chabon. Story of Sean Cochran and Michael Chabon. Directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi.

"The brightest star" – Thursday December 6th

Before being the first Kelpien to join Starfleet, Saru (Doug Jones) lived a simple life on his home planet, Kaminar, with his father and sister. The young Saru, full of ingenuity and uncommon level of curiosity among his people, aspires to discover what lies beyond his village, leading him on an unexpected path. Written by Bo Yeon Kim and Erika Lippoldt. Directed by Douglas Aarniokoski.

"The Escape Artist" – Thursday 3rd January

Harry Mudd (Rainn Wilson), back to his old habits of flying and double traffic, finds himself in a precarious position aboard a hostile ship, just in time to try his last con. Written by Michael McMahan. Directed by Rainn Wilson.

In August, CBS All Access announced that Patrick Stewart will resume his iconic role of Jean-Luc Picard in a new series "Star Trek". The still anonymous series will explore the "next chapter" of Picard's life.
