Chance the Rapper joins the conversation about mental health in a major way. At the second annual SocialWorks Summit on Thursday, October 4, the rapper announced that he would donate a million dollars to mental health services in Chicago in partnership with his non-profit organization.

"With the help of SocialWorks, we want to change the way you access mental health resources," Chance said before announcing his own promise.

In addition, a representative from SocialWorks revealed that the organization would donate $ 100,000 to six different mental health facilities in Cook County, Chicago. The new initiative would be called "My Mind", according to Chance, a "new way of thinking about mental health".

In addition to focusing on mental health, Chance said he and his organization would continue their efforts to reform the Chicago public school system. Last year, the rapper's New Chance Fund oversaw donations and grants to several public schools in the city. Twenty additional schools will receive a $ 100,000 grant for the next three years, Chano said.

At a time when mental health and addiction have cost the lives of many young people, it is a major contribution. Like Chance, other rappers, including J. Cole, have extended their hand or ear to help those who are struggling.
