In 13 seasons with the Phillies, it was at its peak of 2005-10 as a core member of the team who has consecutively reached the World Series and won in 2008.

In 2015, he was traded to the Dodgers. Playing a key role on the bench, he again reached the World Series in 2017. Ultey returned to the Dodgers with a two-year contract in the offseason.
