Northern Territory police looking for a 12-year-old missing boy in a remote area of central Australia said he found the body of a child.
The body was found 120 meters from three other bodies, all belonging to the same family, near their broken down vehicle, on Wednesday on Jarra Jarra Road.
An official identification of the child has not yet been undertaken and the police have not confirmed whether it was the body of a suspected 12-year-old boy to be a passenger in the car.
The bodies of a 19-year-old man, a 19-year-old woman and a three-year-old boy, described as a young family, were found Wednesday night near Willowra, about 300 km northwest of Alice Springs.
Their vehicle was about 70 km from Willowra and was last seen leaving the city on Friday for Yarra Yarra.
The dead are not considered suspicious, the bodies found about 4.5 km from the vehicle. Remains of food and water were also found at the scene.
Earlier in the day, police said it was possible, according to information provided by other family members, that a 12-year-old boy would also be a passenger in the vehicle.
Family members did not allow the publication of the boy's name.
"It's a tragic situation and our thoughts remain with the families affected by this incident," Nobbs said.
He added that even if the police did not speculate on the cause of death or the fate of the vehicle, the incident was a timely reminder for people traveling on NT roads.
"Make sure that when you travel, your vehicle is in good condition, that you have enough supplies, including water and a first aid kit, and that someone knows something about it. your travel itinerary, the day of your departure, your arrival and the planned journeys. ," he said.
The first information reported to police on Wednesday indicated that the vehicle had crashed but when the investigators arrived it was clear that there had been no accident.
Nobbs said the man who made the initial report to the Wilowra clinic would be questioned.

The ABC reported that the three people initially discovered could have died from exposure.
