Childish Gambino has postponed at least one date on his North American tour "This Is America" and perhaps more, according to a tweet from his creative team.
A representative of the promoter of the Live Nation Tour confirmed to Variety that the date of the Los Angeles Forum of September 26 is postponed to an indefinite later date, and that Fam Rothstein of Wolf + Rothstein, the "creative collective" that runs Gambino (aka Donald Glover) tweeted Tuesday night: "This tour is postponed, not canceled My guy played through the pain, but must go out a few days. Although no statement was made, according to TMZ and other online reports, Glover may have hurt or broken his foot while playing in Dallas, where the show was apparently short.
Gambino said that this tour would be his – or at least his Gambino alter-ego – the last one. He has created three new songs on the tour in addition to the four that he has released earlier in the year and, although an album is expected in the coming weeks, no definitive announcement has been made.
From the New York show, Variety said: "The presentation is visually stunning, with a bright show filled with arenas, lots of dry ice and a pair of video banks 50 feet high that move between the center and sides of the stage; Large video screens were on each side, showing both the scene and often members of the crowd. During the rap songs, the lights would respond and sometimes accentuate the lyrics. On several occasions during the show, the cameramen followed Glover behind the scenes – and once dragged him backstage, then into a series of hallways in the actual arena, passing in front of the bleachers, – and in the crowd, where thousands of cell phone cameras flashed, he gradually crossed the aisles to return to the stage.
