LONDON (Reuters) – Children as young as 12 have been found among 21 people stowed inside a refrigerated truck loaded with sparkling water in a British port, the BBC reported on Wednesday. .

The group, which would come from Vietnam, was discovered Thursday by the Border Force in the port of Newhaven, in southern England, and included 15 children.

The BBC said that a criminal investigation was ongoing and that one Romanian, suspected of being the driver of the vehicle, had been charged with assistance for illegal entry into the United Kingdom.

Two of the six adults were removed from the UK and the remaining four went to immigration detention centers while their cases were examined.

The children do not need medical care and have been entrusted to social services.
