NORTH YARMOUTH, Maine (AP) – Officials are waiting for the identification of a body found near the home of a teacher who disappeared a few days earlier in North Yarmouth.
Kristin Westra's research was canceled on Friday when a body was found by children playing in the woods.
There was no confirmation that the body was that of the missing professor, but her husband posted on social media: "My heart was broken today."
Her husband told the police that he woke up Monday morning to discover that his wife, 47, had disappeared. He told the Portland Press Herald that she had experienced anxiety and had passed a security "assessment" before disappearing without her cell phone, keys or wallet.
Ed Gervais told the newspaper that his grandchildren had found the body. When asked if the children were fine, he replied, "I hope so."
