A body found in the woods of Maine would be a missing teacher and a mother of two missing in the middle of the night earlier this week.
Police said Friday that a woman's body had been found in the woods less than one kilometer from the house of Kristin Westra, 47, who had disappeared around 3 am on the 1st October.
Authorities would not say who found the body, but a man living in a close-to-the-stage house told the Press Herald that his grandchildren had discovered the discovery around 10:30 am while they were playing in the woods.
During a press conference, the police have not yet confirmed the body's identity. She was waiting for the pathologist's office to publish information.

Westra's husband, Jay Westra, seems to have confirmed this tragic information in a Facebook post. Sharing a photo of himself with his wife, he wrote: "My heart was broken today."
According to the Press Herald, family and friends came in and out of Westra's home in North Yarmouth on Friday afternoon.
Most of them refused to talk to reporters, saying that they were still trying to process the information.
"As you can imagine, we are all in shock and we will not say anything yet," said a man at the exit.
A friend of Westra said that "things are still raw".
A few hours after the police reported finding a body in the woods, Jay Westra posted this picture with his wife writing that his heart was broken.

Police and volunteers searched the area in the last few days after Jay Westra stated that his wife had risen from bed around 3 am on Monday, had left the house and never returned. She had left her car and phone behind her.
The Maine state police previously stated that his disappearance was not suspicious.
Westra's brother, Eric Rohrbach, told ABC News that it was "very unnatural" for his sister to disappear without a trace and that she was the "last person to do something like this" .
