Chris Watts case: Texts reveal days before Colorado mother and daughters are found dead

FREDERICK, Colo. – Text messages between Chris Watts and his pregnant wife in the weeks leading up to his death were made public.

These messages reveal that Shanann Watts, 34, of Frederick, Colorado, noticed a change in her husband, saying that he no longer wanted another child.

She wrote on August 5: "I do not know how you fell in love with me in five and a half weeks, or if it's been a long time, but you're not planning another baby if you're not pregnant. lover."

The next morning, Chris Watts, 33, denied not liking him, saying he did not want to erase eight years together and say, "I'm not sure what I have in my head."

The SMS was revealed as part of a 2,000-page discovery document that prosecutors made public on Wednesday.

A friend reported that Shanann Watts and the couple's two daughters, Bella, age 4, and Celeste, age 3, were missing on August 13th.

Colorado investigators then found Shanann Watts' body in a shallow grave and their daughters in commercial oil tanks at the refinery where Chris Watts worked.

Chris Watts was arrested on August 15th. The authorities said that he had strangled his wife on August 13 and choked on his children on August 12 or 13.

On November 6, Chris Watts pleaded guilty to several counts of first degree murder and other counts of indictment. He was sentenced on 19 November to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.

Chris and Shanann Watts met in North Carolina and got married in Mecklenburg County before moving to Colorado.
