"What Dr. Blasey Ford did on September 27, 2018 was extraordinary: she told the truth about a sexual assault suffered while she was fifteen years old at the hands of Judge Brett Kavanaugh," wrote UNC. The English professor, Dr. Jennifer Ho, in her letter of application for Ford's candidacy, talks about the testimony of the California professor presented last month before the Judiciary Committee of the Senate.

A graduate in psychology at UNC in 1988, Mr Ford accused Kavanaugh of having sexually assaulted him at a party at home while they were in high school. Kavanaugh denied all the allegations against him.

"Dr. Blasey Ford gave his testimony, enunciating the truth in front of power, was an inspiration to many of us," wrote Ho. "His accomplishment is to be a former Integral, who, despite the personal costs that she has borne for herself and her family, told the story of her sexual assault and encouraged others to find the courage to denounce the injustice . "

Ho's comments on the letter indicated that after the signatures on the letter had been maliciously erased, they could be submitted on a secure form until midnight on 13 October.

Ho told CNN that when she posted the letter for the first time on Friday morning, she had obtained about 180 signatures before turning off the editing because of trolling. Since writing the form, she has received more than 2,400 signatures, although some, such as "Donald Trump" and several "Christine Fords" – are patently false.

She also received at least two dozen hate mail and a call to the Chancellor of the school to ask her to be fired.

"During his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, (Ford) explained how difficult his early years at the university were," Ho told CNN. "So, as a professor at the University of North Carolina, it reminded me that students in class could really be in trouble, besides the course material."

Ho said that she will not have time to sort and delete the fake names, so she intends to send the results to the nominating committee in the state . "I think it's important for them to see in real time how it went, that it touched a nerve," she added.

"I did it because I believe that she told the truth," said Ho. "In another life, Blasey Ford could have shared this information with one of his teachers. "

"I did it for the students," she added.

According to the UNC Awards webpage, nominees must have "made an outstanding contribution to humanity in all areas" and must be nominated by October 15th.
