The Cleveland Browns fired head coach Hue Jackson about a week ago after his terrible term. They also kicked out their offensive coordinator, Todd Haley. Now, Cleveland is stuck with his interim head coach, Gregg Williams, for the moment. Although the Browns do not expect to be successful in the playoffs this year, it is clear that this team has an upward trend for the future. Who will lead the team to victory however?
It is probably safe to assume that their current coach is not the long-term solution. So there is a good chance that the Browns are looking for someone new. They could use an offensive spirit. Someone to pair with his first overall pick, quarterback Baker Mayfield. You know, someone who has a successful experience with the quarterbacks, no matter their player caliber.
There is a coach available as long as he wishes. Former Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians announced his resignation last year when he knew his time was up in Arizona. After a long and successful career in the NFL, Arians just wanted to hang up and become a fan again. With the Browns on the market for a head coach, there is no way to consider Ariens for the job, right?
In fact, wrong. The Arians would come to coach the Browns. According to CantonRep.com, Arians said the Browns coaching job was the only job for which he would consider stepping out of retirement. He did not explain in detail why he would like to coach there, but that's not surprising, as Arians wanted to participate in Cleveland in 2013.
The Arians kept it simple
"Cleveland is the only job I could consider," he said.
Arians made it clear that Cleveland was the only coaching position that he really wanted. He was around, seeing with his own eyes how it was when the old Browns were winners. Marty Schottenheimer, his first boss of the NFL, told him stories.
The coach who won the Super Bowl twice would not be a bad idea for the Browns if he is seriously motivated. As we know, Arians has had considerable success during his tenure as coordinator. Although he could not achieve the ultimate goal of winning everything as a head coach, Arians had a decent win with the Cardinals. He made the series twice, but his relay ended after a disappointing 8-8 season.
Knowing how unhelpful Arians had with a quarterback like Carson Palmer, who was at the back of his career, Arians is an intriguing candidate for training and coaching a young star like Baker Mayfield. So far, the Browns have not been linked to anyone yet, but we'll see soon if Arians looks at the job.
