In January, the Cleveland Indians announced that the 2018 season would be the last season for the use of Chief Wahoo's infamous logo on their uniforms. The season is over and the team has unveiled their new uniforms for the 2019 season and beyond. The 2019 Cleveland set includes two new sweaters and a new hat.
For the first time since the late 1970s, when they experienced the bright red uniform, the tribe will wear a red sweater. Although this is the first time we have seen Indians wear red for a very long time, the look is familiar. The Indian script logo is now in navy blue with a white outline, while the bands on the collar and sleeves are very minimal.

The navy blue jersey that the team loved to wear (especially during the playoffs) has now been replaced and stored. Indians will always wear navy blue from time to time. This will only happen for road matches, since the team has left with a navy blue jersey off their road jerseys. This means that the "Cleveland" block logo will now appear on their navy blue sweater. It's actually a look quite similar to what the Red Sox wear for replacements on the road, although I doubt Cleveland is wearing red socks with their blue replacements.
To top off all the changes, Cleveland will have a new hat to wear at home, a familiar look. The "Block-C" logo that currently serves as the main logo will now be worn at home with their new red brimmed hat. The 2019 MLB All-Star Game logo will also be placed on the side of the cup for 2019 and the logo will be featured on the road cap and all jerseys.

In fact, the All-Star Game logo will represent the location that Chief Wahoo owned on the jerseys. It turns out that Cleveland has kept his word and that Chief Wahoo is nowhere on hats or sweaters. If you are still inclined to support the logo, you can still buy equipment bearing the old logo in the official shop of the team. But for now, this logo is officially in "regression" territory and the team has finally made the decision to come out of the unflattering caricature of Native American culture.
There is still a lot of time to debate the relevance of the new changes. Personally, I am a fan of the new red substitute, but the replacement of the navy is a little too simple and naked for my taste. Meanwhile, the new heading of the house is a solid look too. That said, these changes are all an automatic upgrade and are due to the major omission of a logo.
