In an incident that quickly became viral for her dramatic illustration of a divided America, two women opposed the fight in a Colorado grocery store for two Hispanic clients to speak Spanish while doing their shopping.

The fierce confrontation led to the arrest of 64-year-old Linda Dwire, who claimed that clients only had to speak English when they were in public.

The Garfield County Sheriff's Office confirmed Dwire's arrest at TIME. She was charged with two counts of bias-motivated harassment.

The video of another client, Kamira Trent, confronting Dwire and defending Hispanic women has captivated social media users. In the video, Trent screams furiously against Dwire and tells him to leave the store.

"I call the cops. You leave these women alone! Get out! Says Trent in the video.

Dwire tries to defend herself by telling Trent that she comes from a different generation, but Trent cuts her quickly.

"No, I do not .. I have respect You do not harass people," Trent says as he shows the exit of the store.

As Dwire begins to move away, she tells Trent, "You will lose your country."

Trent replies, "You do not harass Hispanic women!"

The video of the incident was posted on Facebook by Fabiola Velasquez, who stated that she was with her friend Isabel Marin when Dwire approached the two, telling them that they had to speak English. They would live in this country.

"I never thought that would happen to me," wrote Velasquez in Spanish. "I was with a friend chatting in the store in Spanish, then a woman started to insult us and tell us that if we lived in this country, we should not have to speak Spanish, but only l & # 39; English. "

"I want to thank the girl – whom we did not know – for defending us and calling the police. I think the woman who shouted at us was arrested, "Velasquez continued. "I've always seen videos like this online and they were indignant and now that it happened, I felt a great sense of helplessness."
