A CNN group led by anchor Don Lemon, a CNN host, teamed up with Kanye West on Tuesday night, joking that his embrace of President Donald Trump had been symbolic. Many referred to him using the term "negro".
"It's a fucking attention, like the president. He suddenly became the spokesman for the model. It's the negro of the Trump administration, "said CNN collaborator Tara Setmeyer.
"It's ridiculous and no one should take Kanye West seriously. He clearly has problems. He has already been hospitalized, "she continued. "Do not trivialize mental health problems, [but] Kanye has obviously taken a very strange turn. "

Another guest, former Congressman Bakari Sellers, also hit Kanye using much of the same language.
"Kanye West is what happens when the negro does not read," said Sellers. "And we have this now and now Donald Trump is going to use it and pervert it and he's going to have someone who can stand it and take pictures."
All the while, Lemon laughed and joked about the expression of another jury member, Scott Jennings, a CNN contributor, who seemed visibly uncomfortable.
"I'm just looking at Scott's face," said Lemon barely uttering the words. "Scott is like" Wow, OK. "
Representatives from West and CNN did not immediately respond to TheWrap's request for comment.
This is not the first time a CNN segment has introduced mental illness as an explanation for Kanye's behavior. Last week, during a "New Day" episode, co-host Alisyn Camerota bluntly suggested that Kanye might not be at the rendezvous.
"I'm just wondering if it's time to start worrying about Kanye because sometimes he continues to make senseless speeches," she said. "He took a break for stress-related problems, so I'm worried."
Kanye West has faced fierce criticism from his fans and allies since he publicly embraced Trump in person and online. It was known that West had been close to the billionaire before his election and this friendship continued despite Trump's approval ratings among black Americans.
West became more and more outspoken about his love of Trump. After a performance on "Saturday Night Live" last month, the rapper rang and received a wave of screaming from the audience after the cameras stopped running.
"You know it's like the plan – the democratic plan – to take fathers home and promote well-being. Does anyone know about this? That's the plan of the Democrats, "said West in the midst of disturbing talk about the sound stage of the NBC show. "So many times that I talk to a white person who says to me," How can you love Trump? He is racist. If racism worried me, I would have left America a long time ago. "
For his part, Trump returned the favor by rewarding Kanye with favorable tweets and giving him a private lunch at the White House later this week, where they should discuss prison reform.
