KALAMAZOO, MI – Coca-Cola Great Lakes has announced plans to close a plant in Kalamazoo, an initiative that reaches up to 102 jobs.

The company filed a Federal Notice on Worker Adjustment and Retraining (WARN) on Thursday, September 6th.

According to the notification, the facility located at 216 Peekstock Road closes at the beginning of November.

Of the 102 jobs, 69 are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.

The notice indicated that the 102 workers would be affected "to the extent that employees are not offered or do not accept a transfer position at another Michigan facility".

Coca-Cola Great Lakes released the following statement Saturday:

"At Great Lakes Coca-Cola Bottling, we are constantly evaluating our business and organizational structure to remain competitive as an industry leader, and as part of this ongoing assessment, we have recently announced the closure of our distribution center located in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

We deeply appreciate the contributions of our members and have worked hard to minimize their impact on employees. A majority of positions will be transferred to our existing centers in Grand Rapids and Lansing. "
