LOS ANGELES, Calif .– Californian slugger Andrew Vaughn was named winner of the Golden Spikes 2018 at a live presentation on ESPN's flagship program, SportsCenter, on Thursday. Presented in partnership with the Rod Dedeaux Foundation, the Golden Spikes Award recognizes the best amateur baseball player in the United States for his athleticism, sportsmanship, character and contribution to the sport.

Eighth player in the Pac-12 to win the prestigious trophy, after Bob Horner (1978), Terry Francona (1980), Oddibe McDowell (1984), Mike Kelly (1991), Mark Prior (2001), Tim Lincecum (2006) ) and Trevor Bauer (2011)
